Caroline Walsh

Caroline Walsh

I am writing to formally introduce myself. I am Caroline Walsh, volunteering with Ana and the team as one of the Social Media Editors with Tourism for All UK. I am a wheelchair user and cannot walk. I have been disabled from birth. I’ve been a keen traveller since I was 6 months (I am now 42😳). Safe to say I have seen some changes here and abroad..much progress has been made...much still to do.

I’ve been involved formally with accessible tourism in one form or another since about 2001, before that I researched environmental sciences related topics. It was in 1998 I started to take an interest in volunteering through tourism and accessibility/ inclusion around this. More on this and my other accessibility fields of interest at a later date.

I am really proud to be volunteering with the team

Hollie

Hollie Byrnes

Hi there, my name is Hollie Byrnes and I’m 25 years old. I live in York, I have Arthrogryphosis and as a result of this I have 24/7 care.

I have 4 pets that are my world! My retired assistance dog Hilton is a ginger lab, my cat is called Martin, I have a ginger guinea pig called Oliver and a Russian dwarf hamster called Blossom.

I have been volunteering for Tourism For All for the last couple of months now and I have to say I’m really enjoying it. I have been helping out with research and creating template documents. I have just started helping out with survey analysis which is very interesting. These are all good skills to add to my CV

Sue B

Sue Bramall

Hello, I’m Sue and contacted Tourism For All after my father died. We had always loved travelling and day trips and he had to use a wheelchair for a few years. While we met some fantastically helpful people, I was also really surprised how inaccessible so many public places still are. I had studied hotel management and worked in the tourism sector until the mid-1990s. After this, my career took a different direction, but I kept an interest by volunteering through Arts & Business and occasional mystery shopping. Having a bit more time on my hands now, I was looking for something to do with improving accessible tourism and found Tourism For All. Holidays are so important for recharging your batteries, and I’m looking forward to helping people to find some suitable and enjoyable options.
