Brian Seaman is a self-employed Associate of Access New Business, which is a group of accessible tourism and travel professionals based in the UK and Europe.

Over a period of 25 years, Brian has advised hundreds of tourism businesses of all sizes and complexities on improving their accessibility. This has included entire destinations and a range of individual businesses within them. 

Here are some examples:

SMEs: For anyone proposing to create accessible facilities; he can write a letter of support to the local planning department; assess submitted plans; identify gaps in provision, and signpost businesses to sources of information and support. 

Guoman and Thistle Hotels: He visited and wrote reports and an Accessibility Guide for 38 Guoman and Thistle Hotels across Britain. This project took place over several years as facilities were changed or upgraded. The entire hotel estate was visited three times. 

Sandcastle Waterpark:  He reviewed access for disabled guests. Advised on the development of their Accessibility Guide and how to market their accessible facilities. They went on to win a Gold Award in the Accessible Tourism category of the VisitEngland Awards. 

MS Society: Assessed venues for their national conferences and advised the Sage Gateshead and Manchester Central on how best to improve site facilities and access information for up to 3000 delegates including 300 wheelchair users for the event.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh:  Visited four large Scottish gardens to write up a Walk-Through Access Audit with recommendations and reviewed the proposed Accessibility Guide for each site. 

VisitEngland: Visited and assessed 56 businesses for potential inclusion in VisitEngland's Access For All national marketing campaign. 

VisitBrighton: Developed and wrote a Destination Access Audit in 2005, to assist with improving the visitor experience for disabled and older people.

Brian Seaman is an experienced practitioner in accessible tourism and a specialist in planning, building regulations, compliance, marketing and beyond. For almost 20 years he was the full-time access advisor for Tourism for All UK, reviewing access and facilities for disabled and older people across all sectors of the tourism industry.
